Iowa Communication Association 54th Annual Conference
September 21-22, 2018
Des Moines Area Community College, Ankeny, IA
We face significant challenges today in our educational institutions, as well as our local, national, and global communities. Differences in perspectives, experiences, values, and power have lead us to a place of tightened boundaries and heightened conflict. Yet if we are to help create positive and sustainable communities, we must find a way to bridge these differences so that we may find a path to understanding. Join us at the 2018 ICA conference as we explore these and other important issues in communication pedagogy and research.
- Keynote Panel: Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Commissioners will discuss a new solutions-focused dialogue project that has included dialogue on safety and justice and refugees and immigrants in Des Moines
- Pedagogy panels providing effective and practical ideas for teaching
- Research panels sharing original research completed by both professionals and students
- President’s Reception, Dinner & Awards, and social time at The Fletcher. This is an exciting new venue that is both rustic and contemporary. We’ll have Denny’s Room, a casual space with room socialize, for the evening. You’ve got to see this place – it’s anything but ordinary!
